Pratika Rawal had a tough time in the Women's World Cup despite performing well. She got injured ahead of the World Cup knockouts and missed the remainder of the tournament. When India won the World Cup, Rawal was present on a wheelchair during the celebrations but didn't receive the medal.

Missing out on the knockout stages of the tournament, she was present in the finals to watch the team win. Even in the trophy presentation, Rawal did not get the medal, as only 15 medals were available at that time. And Rawal, not being a part of the final squad, did not receive it, as Shafali Verma got it in her place.

1. Rawal's Maiden World Cup Campaign

Pratika Rawal made her debut for the Indian team in 2024. She was capable to impress the selectors with her performances, which even helped her to be a part of the team in the Women's World Cup. Participating in her first World Cup as an opener, it was the right opportunity for Rawal to prove

Despite the 2025 Women's World Cup being her first, she was able to make it count. Rawal ended up scoring 308 runs for the team across 6 innings with a century and a half-century. Her knocks turned out to be vital for the Indian team to secure wins and eventually reach the semi-final stages of the tournament.

Later in the do or die clash against New Zealand, Pratika Rawal took the command. She went on to score 122 runs off 134 balls, which helped India to post a massive total and eventually win the game for the team. It was also the last World Cup match of the edition where Rawal stepped out to bat.

The scans had indicated that Rawal has sustained an ankle and knee injury. Taking a look at the seriousness of the situation, she was ruled out of the knockout games of the tournament. In her place, Shafali Verma came in to the team as a replacement. Despite being among the highest run scorers of the tournament, she went on to miss the most important games.

3. Why Rawal Didn't Get the Medal?

With Pratika Rawal being injured, she was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament. In her place, Shafali Verma came as a replacement for the Indian team, to complete the requirement of 15 members. Eventually, with the help of Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur, India reached the finals of the tournament.

Against South Africa, India was able to secure a win by 52 runs and clinch their maiden World Cup. Pratika Rawal was also present during the game, as she joined the celebrations. During the trophy presentation, all of the players got the medals but Pratika Rawal, who played all the games except the knockouts didn't.

Following this, it was known to the fans that only the squad members in the final game are rewarded with the World Cup medals. Despite giving all of her hard work and dedication to the team, Rawal did not even receive the medals due to the ICC rules. Even fans were disappointed with this, as they demanded something to be done in this case.

With Jay Shah being the Chairman of the ICC, he has decided to step into this matter. In an interview, Pratika Rawal said, “Jay Shah intervened & told us he wants to make sure I get a medal of my own. It is on the way. I will get it soon.”
