A KBC question could even haunt some people. This may happen if it is a 7 crore question and the contestant got it wrong. But it happened in one of the latest KBC episodes, when a question related to Virat Kohli

The question was clearly asking about the player who has not scored 10,000 runs in the Test format. Among the options, the names of all Fab Four players were mentioned. With Kohli being the only one who was not able to breach the 10,000 runs mark, the question reminded fans of his untimely retirement from his favourite format.

1. Kohli's Old Video Resurfaces

Virat Kohli started off his career focusing on the Test format. Although his initial games were not good enough, he seemed determined for the longer format of the game. Thus, he continued to perform well and prove his worth to the Indian team in the Test format.

In his initial years, Virat Kohli where he talked about his goals. He mentioned that scoring 10,000 runs in the Test format remains one of his aims to be completed. However, it now remains as another promise which went unfulfilled for the Indian fans.

Virat Kohli had a great time in his career from 2016 to 2019. In this period, he outperformed every other player in the Fab Four. But from 2020, his form dipped to a great extent in the Test format. Due to this reason, Virat's scoring rate in the Tests  to the others.

A player who scored 16 centuries from 2016 to 2019 went on to score just 3 centuries from 2020 to 2025. Fans had high expectations from Virat Kohli in his peak time, but his downfall from 2020 in the Test format turned out to be unexpected.

2. Untimely Test Retirement

Except for the first Test match, Virat Kohli was not able to perform well in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. A series where Kohli used to create records ended up being his last Test series. Kohli had struggled with the outside off stump line, losing his wicket in each game at the same line and length.

However, he still ended up having some practice sessions with Sanjay Bangar to practice on his weaknesses and improve the same. Kohli also played in the Ranji Trophy for Delhi to ensure that he is in good form for the tour of England. But weeks before the squad was to be announced, from the Test format.

Fans still think of the aim that Virat Kohli had earlier to score 10,000 runs in the Test format. He retired 770 runs short from this mark, and it is still wondered what could have happened if Kohli was a part of the India tour of England.
