BAN vs AUS । Twitter praises Australia Women’s charismatic performance to register 10-wicket win over Bangladesh

Australia Women defeated Bangladesh Women by a huge margin of 10 wickets in the 17th game of the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025. Skipper Alyssa Healy’s match-winning century (113* runs), following Alana King’s sensational spell (2/18 in 10 overs), played a central role in Australia’s massive win.

After opting to bat first, Bangladesh Women had an opening start of 32 runs in nine overs, which came to an end with Fargana Hoque’s dismissal off Megan Schutt on the last ball of the ninth over. Following Hoque’s dismissal, Rubya Haider and Sharmin Akhter added 41 runs for the second before the former was caught by Tahlia McGrath off Ashleigh Gardner on the fifth ball of the 18th over. Rubya scored 44 runs off 59 balls, with eight fours. Later in the innings, it was only Sobhana Mostery who displayed a bit of resistance with a knock of 66 runs off 80 balls, with nine fours amidst a drastic batting collapse of Bangladesh. Eventually, Bangladesh were restricted to a total of 198/9 in the allotted 50 overs. Australian bowling attack enjoyed a shared success as Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, Alana King, and Georgia Wareham scalped two wickets each for their side to restrict Bangladesh below the total of 200 runs. Besides this quartet, Megan Schutt also displayed a brilliant bowling performance, scalping a wicket for just 11 runs in her five overs, including a maiden over.
While chasing the target, Australia Women’s star opening pair of skipper Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield completely outmuscled the Bangladesh bowling attack. The duo stitched an unbelievable, match-winning and unbeaten opening stand of 202 runs in just 24.2 overs to win the game for their side by a massive margin of 10 wickets, to continue their dominance in the tournament’s current edition. Healy completed his well-deserved century, scoring 113 runs off just 77 balls, with a huge number of 20 fours. She was accompanied by Phoebe Litchfield’s knock of 84 runs off just 72 balls, with 12 fours and a six. These knocks were enough to destroy the hopes of winning for Bangladesh, and the defending champions ended up registering their fourth win in the tournament, which was also their third successive win after an abandoned game against Sri Lanka Women.
Star Australia spinner Alana King won the ‘Player of the Match’ for her outstanding bowling performance as she picked two wickets for just 18 runs in her entire 10 overs, including four maiden overs. She registered an unmatched economy rate of just 1.80.
Fans were also left in awe, and they showered praises on the defending champions, Australia, for a convincing 10-wicket win over Bangladesh in this game.
