Ajit Agarkar Breaks Silence on Shami’s Recent Remarks.

Ajit Agarkar was present at the NDTV World Summit, where he was questioned about Mohammed Shami. Knowing about the recent comments made by Shami, Agarkar made his response to the same. Shami has also not played any game for India since the Champions Trophy final.

At the time when fans were waiting for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to make their comeback, there was one player whom they had forgotten. And it is Mohammed Shami. He has also not played even a single game for the Indian team since the victory

A few days ago, Shami made some comments on Ajit Agarkar and his selection to the Indian team. He talked about the fitness issue and indirectly targeted the selectors with his comments. And finally, Ajit Agarkar, the Chief Selector of BCCI, responded to the comments made by Shami.

1. Shami's Comments

Mohammed Shami has been consistently playing for the team in the domestic formats. But he has still not received his call-up for the Indian team. Fans expected him to be back in the India tour of England, but he missed out on the same. The BCCI selectors called fitness an issue for the same.

Later in the series against the West Indies, Shami was not picked. Fans still expected him to be a part of the India tour of Australia. But Shami once again missed out on the team. There were various questions on his exclusion, but none of them by the BCCI selectors.

Mohammed Shami, not being selected for the India tour of Australia, made his comeback to the Ranji Trophy. He was questioned about not being selected for the tour of Australia. Shami also responded to the fitness issues being raised by the selectors for not selecting him for the team.

Shami said that if he is fit to play for four days, he is also capable of playing 50-overs. This sparked a big debate among the fans, as they started to question Ajit Agarkar.

2. Agarkar Responds

Ajit Agarkar was asked various questions at the NDTV World Summit. He talked about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the 2027 World Cup, and the possibility of fans being able to watch them play for the team till that time. Also, he noted the fact that there is a lot of time for the 2027 World Cup, and both

He was also asked about the snub of Mohammed Shami from the team. To this he said, "He has been an incredible performer for India. If he said something, maybe that is a conversation for me to have with him or him to have with me but even before England, we said if he was fit, he would have been on that plane. Unfortunately, he wasn't. Our domestic season has just started so we will see if he is fit enough and we will see where it goes.”

Agarkar continued by saying, “This is the first round of Ranji games that is going on. We will find out in a couple of more games. If he is bowling well, why would you not want to have someone like a Shami but what we have found in the last six-eight months to a year, even during the Australia tour, we were desperate to have him on, but unfortunately his fitness wasn't there. If he does stay fit over the next few months, the story might be different but at this point, as far as I know, he wasn't fit enough for that England tour".
