How India Can Still Qualify for the Semi-Finals After Losing to England.

India Women suffered a close loss against England Women in the World Cup. This has lowered their chances of qualification, with just one spot remaining in the semi-finals. But there's still one way open for the team to make it to the same.

The Women's World Cup has been more intense than ever, as three teams have confirmed their spot in the semi-finals. First it was Australia, who made it to the semis with two more games to play. They were later joined by South Africa in this list. After this, saw one more team being qualified to the same.

India looked strong throughout the game, but lost it in the end by just 4 runs. This allowed England to not just win the game but also mark their spot in the semi-finals. However, to make things worse for India, South Africa has also made it to the semis with their win. It means that only one spot remains for the Women's World Cup semi-final stage.

1. India vs England

India and England locked horns with each other on 19 October. Fans had high hopes with India, as the team took home ground advantage. Every match was a must win for the team to confirm their spot in the semi-finals. On the other hand, England had almost made it to the semis, and needed just one win to confirm their spot.

England was able to win the toss in this game, and they decided to bat first. This decision helped the team to a great extent, as they were able to post down a total of 288 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. India was able to take wickets towards the death overs,

With this, England had given a target of 289 runs to India. The team had lost all of the 17 games earlier while chasing a target above 270. But this time, it looked like they had a bright chance to end the jinx. Even after losing two quick wickets within the powerplay, the team had a well settled partnership. This was between Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Both of them scored half-centuries, which helped India to reach much closer to the target. However, when they lost the wickets, the middle order was not able to chase the remaining runs. At one point, the team needed 36 runs off 30 balls, which could have been possibly chased.

England won the game by just a bare margin of 4 runs, remaining undefeated in the tournament. With this win, the team has climbed back to the 2nd spot in the standings and also qualified to the semi-final stages. They have also been the third team to be qualified to the semis of the tournament.

2. India's Qualification Scenario

Let's now take a look at the scenario of qualification for the Indian team. Even after losing their last three games, India stands at number 4 in the rankings. However, they will be having a close contest with New Zealand to determine which team reaches the semi-final of the tournament.

The Indian team is now having two games left in the World Cup, which are against New Zealand and Bangladesh. And same is the case for New Zealand, as they will be facing India and England in the next two games. For both teams, the clash against each other will be important to determine which team makes

Thus, fans can note the match between India and New Zealand on 23 October as a do or die game for the Indian team. If India wins this game, New Zealand will be pulled out of the qualification race, fixing India's spot in the semi-final. But India is also having advantage of its net run rate, which could favour the team towards the end.

If India loses to New Zealand but manages to secure a win over Bangladesh, they will still be able to maintain a positive net run rate. However, it should be noted that the loss against New Zealand must be of less margin. The match between India and New Zealand is a must win for both teams, but if New Zealand wins, it is not guaranteed whether

If New Zealand wins against India but loses to England, everything will come down to the net run rate. Since New Zealand is having its net run rate negative, it will prove to be a disadvantage to them. On the other hand, India is having a better run rate, and even if the team wins one of its next two games, they will be able to make it to the semis, noting if the Kiwis lose against England.
