Nitish Kumar Reddy finally made his ODI debut for the Indian team. Within a year, Reddy has now played for India across all three formats of the game. Even in his first ODI against Australia, he looked promising to the team.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, another promising young talent, has made it to India's ODI side. He made his debut for the team in the ODI series against Australia. Despite coming down the order, he was able to give a promising finish to India's innings,
However, one will be shocked to know that Nitish Kumar Reddy is not the only player who has made an ODI debut for India this year. He has now joined the list of three more players who made their debuts in this format in 2025. With Reddy starting off his debut on a promising note, fans will be excited to see him play in the upcoming matches.
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal
India's most promising young opening batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal, made his debut this year in the ODI format. After shining in the Tests, the selectors thought of giving him a chance in the India vs England series, which was played at home. Jaiswal was selected for the very first match of the series, as India needed some depth in its batting line-up.
While chasing the target set by England of 249, he came to the crease with the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Jaiswal had given a strong start to the team, scoring three boundaries. But he was not able to carry the momentum forward and lost his wicket after scoring 15 runs off 22 balls.

This was the only game in which Jaiswal received an opportunity to play for the team. He was not selected in the playing XI for the future games of the series too. He made his debut as Kohli got injured during the practice session. And with Kohli returning for the next game, Jaiswal went out to miss games for India in the ODI format.
2. Harshit Rana
In the first ODI match against England, where Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut, there was another debutant for the team. And it was Harshit Rana. Within a few months, he made his debut across all formats of the game after being announced in the playing XI against England.
Harshit Rana made sure to deliver well in his debut game. Although he leaked runs in the initial overs, he took wickets for the team to lower the scoring rates. In the last over of the powerplay, Rana took the wickets of Ben Duckett and Harry Brook, giving India the upper hand in the match.

He finished the match with 3 wickets, conceding 53 runs in 7 overs. Despite having a high economy rate, his wicket-taking abilities could not be undermined. Till now, Harshit Rana has played 6 ODI matches for the team, and took 10 wickets at an average of 23.40, and an economy of 5.80.
3. Varun Chakravarthy
Varun Chakravarthy scripted a perfect comeback to the Indian line-up with his spin bowling. After being snubbed from the Indian team in 2021, he was showing impressive performances in IPL and TNPL 2024. This eventually led him to come back to the T20 squad, and he dominated there also.
Therefore, even the BCCI selectors could not ignore him for the ODI format. In the ODI series against England, Chakravarthy was selected in the playing XI for the second ODI match. With India bowling first in this game, it was time for Chakravarthy to dominate over the English batsmen.

He was able to take the wicket of Phil Salt, which was also his only wicket throughout the game. Still, Varun Chakravarthy went on to play for India in the Champions Trophy, also helping the team to win the final match. Playing 4 matches for the team, Chakravarthy holds 10 wickets at an average of 19.
4. Nitish Kumar Reddy
Nitish Kumar Reddy was next to etch his name to the list of players who have made their debut for India in 2025. Reddy was seen as a promising talent for the team, performing well in the Test and T20I formats. Ahead of the India tour of Australia, Hardik Pandya was unavailable due to an injury.
In his place, the Indian team went with Nitish Kumar Reddy, a decision which paid off. He received his ODI cap in the first match from Rohit Sharma and went on to make his debut. At a time when even India's top order failed to score runs, Nitish Kumar Reddy made his mark by scoring 19 runs off 11 balls. It should be noted that
Although Reddy failed to perform well with the ball, he was still able to score well. With India now preparing for the second ODI, fans would want to see Nitish Kumar Reddy back in the team.
