2. Asia Cup 2025 Controversies

The Asia Cup 2025 edition turned out to be the most controversial in the history of the game. It all started when India and Pakistan faced each other for the first time in the group stages. India ended up winning the game but decided not to shake hands with the Pakistan team and went straight back

Later, when India and Pakistan faced each other once again in the Super Fours, it took a new shape of a controversy. There was active sledging from both sides, as Pakistan mocked Indian fans too. Sahibzada Farhan did a gun celebration after scoring a half-century, while Haris Rauf mimicked the jets

This was a direct taunt to the Indian fans for the Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack, which took the lives of 26 innocent Indians. Following this, the ICC took strict action on the players, as Haris Rauf got a fine and Sahibzada Farhan was released with a warning.

The tensions between these two teams increased even more in the finals of the Asia Cup. In a heated clash, India was able to come out on top and win the game. But the trophy was set to be presented to the team by Mohsin Naqvi, the ACC Chief. He is also the Interior Minister of Pakistan, due to which India refused from him.

As a result, Naqvi went off without handing the trophy or the medals to the team. And till now, India has not received their medals and trophy, which remains locked up in an abandoned place in Abu Dhabi.
