In the world of English football, Glen Johnson has backed former teammate Frank Lampard to guide Coventry City into the Premier League this season. Johnson, who played alongside Lampard at Chelsea for three years and also represented England with him, expressed confidence in Lampard’s ability to achieve promotion if the team maintains its strong form. Speaking to 10bet, Johnson highlighted the unpredictability of the Championship, noting that while several teams are capable of success, consistency and strong winning runs are crucial for promotion.

He estimated that around eight to ten teams could realistically contend for promotion, while a similar number could face relegation, making the league highly competitive. Johnson emphasized that although predicting the ultimate winner is difficult, Lampard’s experience and leadership give Coventry a genuine chance if they keep performing consistently. The 36-year-old right-back, who won a Premier League title and League Cup with Chelsea, also had stints at Portsmouth, Liverpool, and Stoke City, earning 54 caps for England.

Johnson’s endorsement reflects not only his respect for Lampard’s managerial skills but also optimism surrounding Coventry City’s campaign in the Sky Bet Championship. With Lampard at the helm and a strong squad performance, the Sky Blues could realistically aim to return to the Premier League.
