As the excitement builds across India, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has initiated top-level preparations for the much-anticipated Argentina football match featuring Lionel Messi, scheduled for November at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi. Chairing a high-level meeting on Tuesday, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that the venue is upgraded to world-class standards, with urgent attention to maintenance, security, and spectator facilities.

Strict crowd management, medical aid, parking, and power supply arrangements are being prioritised to handle the massive turnout expected for the event. An IAS officer will be appointed as the nodal officer to oversee the entire operation, while a state-level committee led by the Chief Secretary will coordinate planning across departments. The Kerala government also discussed the possibility of a fan interaction session with the Argentina squad, further amplifying the event’s excitement.

Vijayan described hosting Argentina as a moment of pride for Kerala, reflecting the state’s deep-rooted football passion. The match in Kochi comes ahead of Messi’s “GOAT Tour of India 2025,” which will include stops in Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi before concluding with a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Messi expressed his eagerness to revisit India after 14 years, praising the country’s football-loving fans.
