Juventus Draw Sparks Tension Between Allegri and Rafael Leao.

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri confronted Rafael Leao after the 0-0 draw with Juventus, criticizing his missed chances and low work rate. The Portuguese winger faces pressure as Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku push for starting roles. Leao, recently returned from injury, must improve in upcoming matches against Fiorentina and Atalanta to secure his place in Milan’s lineup.

Coming to the situation at AC Milan, tensions have flared between Rafael Leao and coach Massimiliano Allegri following a disappointing goalless draw with Juventus. Leao, returning from injury, struggled in front of goal, missing two clear opportunities, which sparked a fiery touchline and dressing room confrontation. Allegri, visibly frustrated, reportedly told Leao “Don’t p*ss me off!” before the game and later criticised his effort and attitude in front of teammates, emphasising that Milan’s standards demand both focus and defensive contribution from their star No.10.

Leao’s inconsistent form has put his starting spot under threat, especially as internal competition rises. Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku now challenge him for regular inclusion, with both offering tactical flexibility and higher defensive work rates. While some within the club sympathise due to his recent injury, others expect greater responsibility in key moments, noting Leao’s stagnating goal tally over the past two seasons compared to his 2021-22 campaign.

The next few matches, including fixtures against Fiorentina and Atalanta, will be crucial for Leao to regain form and Allegri’s trust. Currently in Lisbon with Portugal, the winger has a chance to mentally and physically reset. Milan still sees him as a long-term asset, but another inconsistent period could force management to reconsider his role amid rising competition from Pulisic, Gimenez, and Nkunku.
