Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti backed Neymar’s potential World Cup return if he regains fitness. The 33-year-old, who has scored three goals in 13 league games for Santos, hasn’t played for Brazil since 2023. Ancelotti, Brazil’s first foreign coach in six decades, praised young stars like Estevao, Rodrygo, and Vinicius for their recent 5-0 win over South Korea.
As the World Cup draws closer, Carlo Ancelotti has voiced his confidence in Neymar’s potential return to the Brazil national team. Despite being left out of recent squads, Ancelotti hinted that the 33-year-old forward could be recalled if he proves his fitness. Neymar, who has scored three goals in 13 league appearances for Santos this season, has been plagued by injuries but remains Brazil’s all-time leading scorer.
Ancelotti, appointed as Brazil’s first foreign coach in 60 years, has already guided the team to qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Under his leadership, Brazil recently demolished South Korea 5-0 in Seoul and are preparing to face Japan in Tokyo. The Italian manager praised Neymar’s class and said the star could fit into any team in the world if he’s physically ready.
At the same time, Ancelotti highlighted the rise of young talents like Chelsea’s 18-year-old forward Estevao, who scored twice in the win over South Korea, alongside Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior. Emphasising teamwork and flair, Ancelotti aims to blend experience with youth as he seeks to end Brazil’s two-decade World Cup drought and create history as the first foreign coach to lift the trophy.
