Real Madrids Courtois Faces Rodent Disruption During Belgium Win

In the Belgium vs Wales World Cup qualifying match on Monday, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had an unusual challenge when a rat ran onto the pitch, briefly halting play at Cardiff City Stadium. Despite his best efforts, Courtois could not catch the rodent, leaving the crowd amused. The incident occurred midway through the second half after Belgium had come from behind following an early goal by Joe Rodon.

Kevin De Bruyne scored twice from penalties to give Belgium a 2-1 lead, and although Nathan Broadhead reduced the deficit in the 89th minute, Leandro Trossard secured a 4-2 victory in the final seconds. Belgium remains unbeaten in World Cup qualifying, collecting 14 points from six matches. A win in their upcoming fixtures against Kazakhstan or Liechtenstein would confirm their qualification for next year’s tournament. Courtois, brushing off the unusual interruption, celebrated the win with takeaway pizza on the flight back to Spain.
