Neymar’s current deal runs until December 2025, but club officials have decided to delay discussions amid concerns over his fitness and the financial strain of his high wages.
The forward has played only 21 matches this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists, before being sidelined since September 19 with a rectus femoris muscle injury in his right thigh. Despite maintaining a good relationship with the player, Santos are prioritising their survival in the Brazilian Serie A and plan to reassess his situation after an internal review.
